Coffee Break: Damn Good Advice by George Lois

One of my favorite books of all time: Damn Good Advice (for people with talent!): How To Unleash Your Creative Potential by the one and only George Lois. A book of life lessons from one of the most influential figures in the world of advertising. Here are a few of my favorite quotes of his. More inspiration to get you through the rest of the week!

“3. Follow your bliss.
That which you love, you must spend your life doing, as passionately and as perfectly as your heart, mind, & instincts allow.”

“15. Creativity is not created it is there for us to find – it is an act of discovery.
If you’re trying to achieve greatness in any creative industry, go out into the world and sail the ocean blue and live a life of discovery.”

“55. To keep the Big Boys honest, speak Truth to Power.
The best of us whose creations can be thought of as art are cultural provocateurs.”

“111. Make you surroundings a metaphor for who you are.
Surroundings should relate to who you are, what your love, and to what you deem important in life.”

I always recommend this book to everyone – especially those in creative industries. It’s a great entertaining source for inspiration and motivation to get started on your creative dreams.

Have you read it before? What’s your favorite piece of advice he gives?
